Sisupalan, Labour councillor after V K Krishna Menon
Mr Sisupalan was elected to Haringey Council in 1994 as a Labour Party candidate. He held a number of positions in the Party and in the Council.
Mr Sisupalan joined the Labour Party in 1975, the day after knowing that his first child was conceived.
However, since the New Labour Party came to prominence, its undemocratic policies and practices at local and at national level disillusioned his belief. He joined the Liberal Democrats in 2002 and held a number of positions at regional and national level and I is the current Vice Chairman of Haringey and Vice Chairman of Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats (EMLD) and the secular society in the Party.
Mr Sisuapalan’s roots are in Kadakavur and he is from a very poor family and since his departure, most members of his family have got some good education and they are no longer short of the basic necessities in life.
Mr Sisupalan’s wife is English with a long and rich history in the British Isles. Their four children were born in North London and they are not only an asset to the community but are also proud of their Indo-British heritage. Mr Sisupalan came to the UK in May 1961 from Singapore, carrying a British Passport, as a citizen of the U.K and colonies.
