Kozhikode, Jul 26 : The Communist Party of India, heading the Left Democratic Front Government in Kerala, today said Chief Minister V S Achuthandan might have made his statement on radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) based on valid information from intelligence agencies in the state.
Speaking at a function here, party State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, however, said the remarks that PFI was attempting to convert Kerala into a Muslim majority state in 20 years was only concerning to that outfit and not against other Islamic organisations.
He said Mr Achuthanandan, facing flak from Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League, for his remarks in New Delhi two days ago, might have aired his views based on intelligence input.
Slamming the IUML for launching a virulent campaign against the statement, he said by such actions the party is admitting that it was backing extremist outfits.
He also accused IUML for speaking in the language of Sangh Parivar, including the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh. --UNI |
