Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 26 : Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanadan today told the state Assembly that it was only with some 'bad intention' that his criticism against the Popular Front of India (PFI), a Muslim religious extremist outfit, was 'misinterpreted.' Replying to a submission by K Babu of the Congress, he said there was a conspiracy behind the move to spread his statements against the PFI.
Justifying his statements, he said what he had shared with the mediapersons at Delhi was with the available information that he received from the Home Department about the activities of fundamental groups like the PFI, NDF and SDPI.
Stating that these outfits were either spokespersons of the Muslim community or representing that community, he said it was an 'anti-people' organisation functioning with the objectve of destroying communal harmony and peace in the state by flaring up communal feelings.
The government had seized pamphlets from the offices of NDF and PFI during a raid in connection with chopping the palm of a college teacher in the state, he said adding that the contents of the pamphlets was intended to create communal division among the people.
The Chief Minister informed that it was also found that the documents seized from the office of these organisations exhorted to act against the democratic system in the country.
Pointing out that it was his duty to make the people aware about the danger of these outfits, he said instead of appreciating his action, the Opposition was blaming him, which according to him would help these extremist forces indirectly. --UNI |
