UUKMA looking to have volunteers in all parts of UK
LONDON: As the leading organisation of Keralites in UK, UUKMA (Union of UK Malayalee Associations) has begun making efforts to help Keralites in UK within its limitations at its early stages. At this stage UUKMA can only provide limited help to those coming to the UK.
When coming to UK the newcomers seek help from friends or relatives who are already settled here either to pick up from airport or looking for a house to rent.
On another occassion when going to a job interview in a new city it would be helpful to have some contacts there locally either to find a B&B near the hospital or company to reach for the interview in time. Same for a university interview also.
As an individual one wont have local contacts in every city if there is a need to travel. If someone can offer a room for a night accomodation whether paid or unpaid it will be a great relief for the individual so as to reach the place of interview in time.
To provide this kind of help and support UUKMA is looking for volunteers (person to contact) who can work as co ordinator in your area/city.
UUKMA likes to designate one or two volunteer in every city where Keralites are there.
Your contact details will not be publicly displayed without your consent. Since it is a social service, UUKMA is leaving all doors open to join as a volunteer.
UUKMA wont be looking whether you are an association joined with UUKMA or not. And it will be good if elected representatives from your association comes forward to be an volunteer.
If you are a person who has got a reasonable knowledge of your city please contact UUKMA to create a volunteer network throughout UK.
If you can join hands with UUKMA please forward your email with full contact details and area you live in to secretary.ukma@gmail.com OR aneeshma@yahoo.com
